Mezcal Dante Cocktail

Wed, May 29, 24  |  mezcal cocktails

The Mezcal Dante is a variation of the Dante cocktail, a herbal and citrusy drink that features tequila.  The Mezcal Dante swaps the tequila base for mezcal, resulting in a smokier and more earthy flavor profile.

Here's what you'll need to make a Mezcal Dante:

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces Mezcal (Espadin is a common choice for cocktails)
  • ¾ ounce Green Chartreuse
  • ¾ ounce Kümmel (a caraway seed liqueur)
  • ¾ ounce Lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 3 basil leaves
  • Garnish: Lime wedge

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing glass, gently muddle the basil leaves to release their oils.
  2. Add the mezcal, Green Chartreuse, Kümmel, and lime juice to the mixing glass.
  3. Fill the glass with ice and stir the drink for about 20 seconds to chill and dilute it.
  4. Strain the Mezcal Dante into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy!

Tips:

  • High-quality ingredients will make a noticeable difference in the final product.
  • If you don't have Kümmel, you can substitute another caraway-flavored liqueur or a splash of simple syrup with a few caraway seeds.
  • Experiment with different types of mezcal to find your preferred smokiness level.
  • Adjust the amount of lime juice to your taste preference.
  • You can find recipes online for homemade Kümmel if you're feeling adventurous!
