Southern Comfort: The Refreshing Lynchburg Lemonade

Tue, Jun 18, 24  |  scotch cocktails

The Lynchburg Lemonade is a deceivingly simple yet undeniably satisfying cocktail. Named after Lynchburg, Tennessee, home of the Jack Daniel's distillery, this drink combines the smooth taste of Jack Daniel's with citrusy notes and a refreshing fizz.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ ounces Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey
  • 1 ounce Triple Sec (orange liqueur)
  • 1 ounce Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
  • Club Soda or Lemon-Lime Soda, to top
  • Lemon Wedge (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Fill a highball glass with ice cubes.
  2. In a separate shaker (if you don't have a shaker, a mason jar works in a pinch!), combine Jack Daniel's, triple sec, and lemon juice.
  3. Add ice to the shaker and shake vigorously for 15 seconds to chill and dilute the drink.
  4. Strain the mixture into the ice-filled highball glass.
  5. Top with club soda or lemon-lime soda, depending on your desired level of sweetness and fizz.
  6. Garnish with a lemon wedge.

Tips:

  • For a sweeter drink, use a lemon-lime soda instead of club soda.
  • If you prefer a more tart flavor, add a half ounce more of lemon juice.
  • Don't have fresh lemon juice? Substitute with pre-made sour mix, but be aware it might alter the sweetness level.
  • Want to elevate your Lynchburg Lemonade? Make your own simple syrup by combining equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan, heating it until the sugar dissolves, and then letting it cool. Use this instead of triple sec for a more nuanced sweetness.

Enjoy this Southern classic – perfect for sipping on a warm afternoon or sharing with friends!
