Lemon Drop Cocktail

Tue, Jun 25, 24  |  gin cocktails

This twist on the classic Lemon Drop offers a slightly different flavor profile with the botanical notes of gin.

Ingredients (Single serving):

  • 2 ounces gin
  • ½ ounce fresh lemon juice
  • ¼ ounce simple syrup (adjust for sweetness preference)
  • Garnish: sugar rim (optional) and lemon twist

Instructions:

  1. If you want a sugared rim, moisten the rim of a chilled martini glass with a lemon wedge or water. Dip the rim in a plate of sugar. Let the sugar dry slightly before proceeding.
  2. Add gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  3. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds, or until well chilled. Strain into the prepared martini glass.
  4. Add a lemon twist for garnish and enjoy your Gin Lemon Drop!

Tips:

  • Use freshly squeezed lemon juice for the brightest flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of simple syrup to your taste preference.
  • A good shake ensures the drink is properly chilled and diluted.
  • For a variation, muddle a few raspberries or blueberries in the shaker before adding other ingredients.
  • Choose a gin that complements citrus flavors. London Dry gins typically have a strong juniper presence, which might overpower the lemon. Consider a more floral or citrus-forward gin for a balanced drink.

Enjoy this refreshing and flavorful twist on the classic Lemon Drop!
