Hot Lips Cocktail Recipe

The Hot Lips cocktail is a smoky and spicy tequila drink with a surprising amount of nuance.  There are two main variations of this drink: one with mezcal and one with tequila.

Here's the recipe for the Hot Lips cocktail with mezcal:

• 1.5 ounces mezcal
• ¾ ounce jalapeno-infused blanco tequila (you can infuse your own tequila by letting diced jalapenos steep in tequila for at least 10 minutes)
• ½ ounce lemon juice
• ½ ounce pineapple juice
• ½ ounce vanilla syrup
• 1 teaspoon cane sugar syrup
• Kosher salt for rim

Instructions:

1. Rub the rim of a rocks glass with a lime wedge and dip it in kosher salt.
2. Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice and stir.
3. Strain into the prepared rocks glass.
