Simple Ginger Snap Highball:

This version is refreshing and easy to make.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces Rum (Gold, Spiced, or White Rum all work well)
  • 4 ounces Ginger Ale
  • Lime wedge (for garnish)
  • Instructions:
  • Fill a highball glass with ice.
  • Pour in the rum.
  • Top with ginger ale and garnish with a lime wedge.

Shaken Ginger Snap Cocktail:

This version is richer and creamier, with more nuanced flavors.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces Vodka
  • 1 ounce Ginger Liqueur (like Domaine de Canton or St. Elizabeth's Allspice Dram)
  • 1/2 ounce Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 ounce Agave Nectar (or simple syrup)
  • Pinch of grated ginger
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of ground cloves
  • Pinch of nutmeg (optional)
  • Ice
  • Cinnamon stick (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Combine all ingredients (except cinnamon stick) in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  2. Shake well and strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  3. Garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Tips:

  • For a non-alcoholic version of the highball, simply omit the rum and add more ginger ale.
  • If you don't have ginger liqueur, you can substitute with a splash of molasses or ginger syrup.
  • Feel free to adjust the sweetness to your preference by adding more or less agave nectar/simple syrup.
