French Twist Cocktail

The French Twist cocktail is a sophisticated and refreshing drink with a delightful mix of cognac, citrus, and bubbly elements. Here are two popular variations you can try:

Variation 1: Classic French Twist

This version features a balance of cognac, sweet and sour elements, and a touch of soda for a lighter finish.

Ingredients:

• 1 ¾ oz Cognac (VSOP for best flavor)
• ½ oz DeKuyper® Triple Sec Liqueur (or other orange liqueur)
• ¾ oz Simple Syrup
• ½ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
• 3 parts Club Soda
• Lemon Wheel for Garnish
• Raspberries for Garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. Fill a coupe glass with ice and let it sit for a few minutes to chill. Discard the ice before starting.
2. Add cognac, triple sec, simple syrup, and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well for about 20 seconds.
3. Strain the mixture into your chilled coupe glass.  Top gently with club soda.
4. Add a lemon wheel and raspberries (optional) for a touch of elegance.

Tips:

• While VSOP cognac is recommended, any good quality cognac will work.
• If you don't have DeKuyper Triple Sec, you can substitute with another orange liqueur like Cointreau or Grand Marnier.

Variation 2: Virginia ABC French Twist

This version uses a slightly different ratio of ingredients and omits the club soda for a more spirit-forward cocktail.

Ingredients:

• 1 3/4 oz Cognac
• 1/2 oz Triple Sec
• 3/4 oz Simple Syrup
• 1/2 oz Lemon Juice
• Lemon Twist for Garnish

Instructions:

1. Fill a rocks glass with ice and let it sit for a few minutes. Discard the ice before starting.
2. Add cognac, triple sec, simple syrup, and lemon juice to a mixing glass filled with ice. Stir well for about 30 seconds.
3. Strain the mixture into your chilled rocks glass.
4. Add a lemon twist for a finishing touch.

Tips:

• This version has a stronger cognac flavor compared to the first variation.
